FlavorOpt^SM Overview

Senopsys’ FlavorOpt^SM system was created to develop custom, palatable drug formulations.

The art and science of taste masking is built upon the concept of proper flavor construction. In a palatable drug product, a bitter API is blended with excipients that produce complementary and supporting basic tastes, aromatics and mouthfeels so that the bitterness is no longer separately perceived by the patient. Once this balance is achieved, identifying flavors such as orange, grape and bubblegum can be selected based on the patient demographics, dosing frequency and other factors related to quality of life.

Senopsys’ FlavorOpt^SM System is used to:

• Assess and select functional excipients such as solubility enhancers, preservatives, and suspending agents based on their taste effects
• Develop a sweetener system to match the bitterness profile of the API
• Identify and choose appropriate taste modifiers and flavor extenders
• Screen, select and optimize identifying flavors based on patient population and other factors
